What's the difference b/w Google +1 button and Likes button ?

As the topic says, I was kinda intrigued when i visited a friends forum today and saw a google +1 button on posts. As far as i know they say it levitates your "+1 posts" to google search engine. Doesn't the Likes system do the same thing? Is their any benefit of adding this button or i should let the "Likes" system remain as it is.

If they have the same functionality course i would not like to add it.

The vbseo likes system is internal to your own website and has nothing to do with any other website or ranking or anything else.
In the future, the plan was to use likes data to augment threads' sitemap priority based on likes data. Higher liked threads will weigh more in the sitemap.

So currently a google +1 button will levitate your posts more to google than the Likes system ?

IF the +1 system takes off. It doesn't appear to be doing well.

Ah well i'll wait for now just wanted to know what it was all about Would be nice IF it does take off, perhaps it could be integrated in vbseo for further versions.

it sounds dodgy to me but google +1 button is like voting system.....similar to facebook like system..hope it worked...

i hope +1 will give us +change our forum rankings..

It's like a voting system, if anyone likes your site and content then he can give +1 to your site. If your site has good +1 then google will give some weight age to your site in ranking.

The only difference is +1 is the product of Google and like button resembles Facebook.
