What is the status on vbseo lite?

I am about to create a new forum and I am thinking about installing the lite version on it.

I would, of course, upgrade to the regular version at a later date, but at the moment I am still analyzing the value of the paid product on my current forum.

It's done, really... We're just a bit delayed with the releases. Of course, there will be a beta stage for both, the lite version and the IIS version.

I'm hoping to release both very soon... I just want to get 2.3.3 rock solid first and add/update some content to the site before proceeding with the betas.

On another note, we are a bit concerned with support for the lite version as we expect a BIG rate of adoption... I'm looking for ways to prevent chaos while still being able to provide some kind of support for the free product... maybe the knowledge-base (software being installed) will help with that. Any ideas?

Offer it without support, and they can purchase a lifetime support plan for $149. That will also entitle them to the full version of vbSEO completely free with their support plan!

I think you should launch a ticket based support system for vBSEO and only provide support though that for people who paid, then for the lite version they can get unofficial support through the forums.

That way you guys can just focus on anything submitted through the ticket system and lite people (and full version people of course) can get support via customers through the forums.

Support in on vb.org only lets the mods deal with it over there. I think we (I hope I can include myself) have a nice little community here, with your members (us) willing to help out all the noobs and sharing ideas among ourselves (plus adding to the value of being a member here). And lets face most of the takers for lite will never buy it. So again I say support it on vb.org only and leave this place for your paying customers.

    My 2 pence.

Support (if available) will most probably be via vBSEO.com as I don't think vB.org will allow encrypted code in their repository.

    Listening... keep the ideas flowing

Yes, as the core engine is the same as vBSEO's full version .

AFAIK: The settings on the Lite version are 'locked' .. the adminCP page we get is not available to users of Lite.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

The lite version will be URL rewrites only without all the other (full version) options.

Not exactly. The lite has some degree of flexibility for the URLs, but everything will be id based - variables like [forum_title] or [thread_title] won't be available. It will be perfect for all those migrating from previous rewrites based on IDs only.

Your may construct threads like this for example:
    t[thread_id] (or)
    thread[thread_id] (or)
    [thread_id]yeepee, etc, etc..
