So vb is just being passed around like chump change from company to company...

I can understand why...after their last stunt, I think they are just about ready to fall apart,
and when that company finds out, then they probably will be passed on to the next buyer....

and these compaines have money for a reason; They choose winning products that
is going to bring them lots more money, when vb fails to perform, they may fire or may
not fire...but they will surely unload vbulletin off on another company, I would...

VB is so desperate now that they are adding affiliate crap to their core...

Either they just want more money, or they are desperate for more money.

I think it maybe the latter....

worthless...if anything that vb said is true then they are doomed.
they claim they did nothing wrong, and then again, every criminal
in jail says they did not do it either...go figure...We were framed....

work on it in what way?

From what I have seen on their forum, it appears they already have SEO URL's....

    You're mis-understanding what happened.

Internet Brands was a public company (ie, on the stock market with shares) even before they bought Jelsoft. That's how they raised money via IPO (initial public offering) to get a mass influx of cash to buy sites.
    Then they bought jeslsoft/etc/etc
Then, this private equity firm saw IB and made an offer to basically buy ALL stock above current value, thus taking the company private. Anyone who owned INET shares were paid out and no longer own any bit of the company.

    Hellman & Friedman — News

NO equity firm would dump that kind of money on a failing, non-profitable company.

You have to remember, the vb portion of IB is only portion of their market value. they also license autodata which is VERY expensive, and even with that, the revenues are still half their other markets. here's a year end 2009 10k i found.

those are in 1000's too. so, they made 99 million dollars profit in 2009. hardly a failing company

I was not implying anything about the over all company failing.

I am saying if they feel that vb is not going to do anything for them, then they
will pass vb off to another company. yes, vb was some package deal? but that
does not mean that vb is doing great or even a success at this point. The way
that vb is going, lets just say I do not feel they are climbing mountain any longer.

that 99 million dollar company made money for a reason, and if they feel that
vb is not going to be a part of them making money, vb will be sold once again.

I'll admit that it was nice to upgrade my site to vb3.8.7, and add on the latest version of vbseo to it. The vb3 technology is old, but users still enjoy it and the partnership here is reassuring. vbseo is wonderful. However, it has become apparent just how few upgrades/updates I've been able to actually put on my production site since the vb4 drama started.

One can't start a community, or expand an interest with a forum, if creativity is being diminished by excessive issues. There are problems on any platform, but if one has to take on the struggle there are relatively encouraged customer-communities on more than one competitive site today. Xenforo is just one of them.

For the forum owner that wishes to migrate; what vb4 did was take away the advantage that vbulletin enjoyed and put all options on a "closer" playing field. Some have found that migrating from vb to Xenforo that literally saved their communities from demise; and their enthusiasm generally shows in both the owners and their users. The problem is that the experience isn't common for all migrations, not all software packages are the same.

It's how the respective competitors handles these challenges that is the leading contributing factor. Xenforo tends to lead in this effort, any deficiency or feature gap is responded to with a degree of faith that it will eventually be handled. IPB isn't doing as well in this regard, but they are doing an admirable job of trying to fill those gaps with their diverse customer base. Skip past MyBB, Vanilla, and a few others and you'd get to IB/vbulletin; there are happy vb4 forum owners openly supporting their efforts but it's not the connection that the average person would notice on practically another other competitive forum/platform site.
