    Angry vbulletin problem installing

Alright so i decided to purchase another copy of vbulletin and once I get it installed another copy of vbseo. However with the new version of vbulletin I'm having a hard time installing everything uploaded great however I have not been able to get pass the part where they require you to enter your customer number which is the first real step. I've tryed both license number and customer number and 5 hours later tech support still can't figure out whats going on. Haven't heard from them in a while now and I was curious if anyone knew if their online ticket support system closed at a specific time.

Also did anyone have any problems install the new build from scratch.

    Josh,

Are you running any browser popup blockers like Yahoo or Google toolbar? They can cause headaches with that step.

The number you are looking for is your customer number, the one you use to log in to the Members section of vbulletin.com. It used to be stored in authenticate.php but is now hashed.

If all else fails, try re-downloading the package. It might have been corrupt or something.

I'm using Safari then I tryed firefox, I'm on a mac or else I would have tried IE. My buddy bought the software and I was going to install it for him. But I downloaded it from my account and was using his customer number. Could that be the problem.

    Thats totally the problem.

Your customer number is linked to the files downloaded. You need to use his customer number.

do not ever share your vbulletin files with anyone. not even 1 file.

you can lose all your lisences.

what a silly mistake you've done, i surgest you delete everything of yours from your mates site, asap.

We'll we both have legit copies of the software and license so i'm not really worried. So it's not a matter of buying one copy and putting it on two different sites. It was a matter of uploading the wrong package.

thats not the point. your files are vaild per domain, if vbulletin see it on 2domains - which they can.. then it will be banned..

also they log when and who visit your admin cpanel. it prob has listen info aswell..

They can only "see" when somebody accesses the admincp.

Given that Josh was unable to get past step 1 of the Install, it's highly likely that he would have never visited the AdminCP, and therefore never triggered the 'call-home' (that is in fact a mechanism to tell you if you are running the latest version. It can be removed without violating Jelsoft's AUP.).

I even told them how I went about it and they said it wouldn't be the issue. With your guys help I was able to correct it faster then the 12 hour ticket I had open over there.
