Sorry I misunderstood then. Sounds like IPB might not be all that, however, I will still give it a go. Whats the worst that could happen?

This is what happened to my friends : They get upset with vBulletin and purchased IPB and imported their data to IPB. After couple days members started complaining about IPB as they were used to vBulletin and they also found it harder to manage IPB compared to vBulletin but they tried to give a chance. Byt in the end they have to migrate back to vBulletin using impex. This is the worst thing that can happen to a well established site as during import sessions all of their id's , links change.

If you are going to give it a try , please make sure you first create a test board and let your members and staff use that test board couple days so you'll not face the same problem.

Members complain about everything typically. It is no shock they complained about a forum change, every board Ive switched to vB has had the same problems.

As I said, I would certainly start new communities with IPB or another piece of software. I wouldn't take a chance on migrating any of the money makers..... yet.

IPB has made a lot if improvements over its overall infrastructure. IPB 3 was completely rewritten from scratch and from what I can see over there, a lot of vBulletin Modders are moving over rather quickly. This is a good step towards the future of forum software. vBulletin will either adapt or fade away into obscurity. Several years back (when IB purchased Jelsoft) I made the choice to leave vBulletin for good. I have never looked back since.

If Juan were to bring the quality of vBSEO to IPB, I would purchase it without a doubt. I have a license to CommunitySEO - while it is good, it is no vBSEO in terms of features and quality.

wow a company turning down additional sales chances or is that IPB have a lot of SEO angles covered look at the 3.1.0 updates

Again, ipb has a lot of built in SEO and only continue to improve on it. Not many lines of vbseo code could be ported to ipb. It's not like it's an easy thing to swap over to. It's not on our plate in any immediate future and likely never will be. The market is tapped from the source provider.
