    Brian,

That's an option you can configure in CP. You can redirect with 301 header to the right url.

I am very sad about all this vB thing. I think IB are there only for the money and just ruin what was a good product.

The only think that make me running vB is vBSEO.

Glad to see they got that addressed. Again, it's been a while since i looked at their software (early alpha or beta of ipb3)

I used to run my site on ipb 1 and later to the paid version 2 (2003-2006 ish). Swithcing to vb + vbseo in june 2006 is the only thing that saved my site. I was REAL close to closing up shop (expenses > incomes). 3 years later, my site is highly profitable and has exploded. it was all due to vb+vbseo. With all that, i have a REAL hard time going back to what obviously wasn't working for me. Granted, ipb3 is a way better product than ipb2 was, but I still don't see it being the right choice for me at this time.

I share the same thought ... vB + vBSEO has been very good to me and to my community, but I have to say that I'm just looking for IPB Community Suite now. This is just the product I need if I was starting all over ... maybe in a new project.

But at this time, I'm afraid to make a jump to the unknown, and this means vB4 or other product.

I'll seat back and wait until vB4 turns gold at 4.2 and at that time my 3.x will be a piece of junk, so I have time to think.

vB will never be the same ...maybe IB will sell Jelsoft after this fiasco!

Fiasco? We'll see. Sell? Not likely, all their sites use vb. Even in the worst case scenario it would be better for them not to sell.

Likewise. I went to IPB after UBB and apart from a poorly arranged admin area it was good. Then I moved to vB which was better again.

I've not use IPB 3.0 but will give it a spin as vB4 seems to have little new to offer. I was expecting to see some innovation to the forum but from the screens it just appears to have had a makeover.

They've not handled it well, and I suppose asking people to pay for something the can't see live was bound to lead to more questions and confusion. A repeat episode would probably begin to damage their reputation.

I opened my first IPB site a couple weeks ago. I love it. The amdincp is organized with ease of use in mind. Once you get used to the template variables and editing the css the styles are much easier to work with. The addons and hooks system is way ahead of vbulletins. Not only that you can use openid, Windows Live ID or facebook to login. They also have a system to integrate logins from different products like wordpress, drupal and others. Not to mention that IPB has a spam db that you can plug your forum into to control spam.

If vbseo made IPBseo I would be all over it. I'm going to migrate all my sites to IPB over the next year. The only thing I'll miss is vbseo.

AWS: you are comparing old vb to new IPB, obviously not fair to vb. Also, IPB is missing features and mods/hacks that vb has. I'm not just talking about vbseo, but other things too.

While I don't believe vBSEO doesn't have the resources to do it, I do understand that they have a lot ahead of them to ensure 4.0 and vBSEO work in harmony.

That's where their stuff is going. I'm sure they'll change their minds in the future as it would be dumb in a business sense to leave the area open for competition. Heck if anyone wants to they can start right now and probably be as big as vBSEO in about 2 years.

Over the next year or the next 90 minutes?!?

The only mod I wish I had for IPB is an SEO script from Crawlability, as I will certainly miss vBSEO. Other than that, I don't feel I am missing anything.

With over 30 licenses with vBulletin, 22 with vBseo. We have decided to start shifting our attention elsewhere, thus my response to Mert about an unwillingness to renew vBseo currently.

Perhaps under another platform, but for now under vbulletin, we are in a holding pattern.

There are downsides for us moving away from vBulletin, but the grass always appears greener on the other side.

    Hello Rick ,

I had lots of friends who were not happy with vBulletin and they purchased IPB. After some time they all return back to vBulletin as they didn't like how IPB and their members wanted vBulletin back. Thats why i would like to advise to carefully evaluate shifting to another platform.

Like all things, there are pros and cons with products. vBulletin has theirs just as vBseo and or even my products.

The issue is at some point you need to take a chance, see what the other companies have to offer or else you will just never know. At this time, I don't know and I don't think there is too much harm in trying it out.

Obviously, people leaving for IPB affects vBseo. Less renewals, less sales etc. I wouldn't expect you to say anything else while on the clock
You totally misunderstood me. Trust me it has nothing to do with vBSEO renewal fees or license sales. As you are an old vBSEO customer , you should already know that we are trying to help on every question they have. Thats why i just tried to give you a friendly warning as my friends all converted their forums back to vBulletin lately.
