The size of the monitor doesn't matter, it's the resolution that you're running that matters.
But it's a known issue that just hasn't been corrected yet.

i'm on a 19" lcd here at the office on 1280x1024, and it looks fine
but i use firefox

I am on 1440 * 900 resolution here, does not works fine in opera, firefox and IE on XP.

i run 1440x900 on my laptop (17" 16x9) and it looks fine as well.
