Thumbs down vbcover review / HORRIBLE support

I hate leaving reviews like this and I never ever leave reviews in general, let alone negative. Its not my thing, but today I have to so others who consider any product from vbcover.com to think twice before purchasing. I lost my $169.98, purchased the vbmagazine bundle with branding free upgrade.

The sole purpose of this review is to help you decide for yourself, based on my experience. The seller "Lionel" should have the proper info per product, regarding how many file and template edits must be made for that product. He does not. Only vbcaption has "file and template edits" note, not the numbers. None of the other products have any mention of file or template edits as requirements.

I have literally installed (currently, not just over time) 80+ mods from vbulletin.org. Every single one of them (gratefully, all free) tell you if file or template edits, even code changes are required.

Here are screenshots from vbcover.com product pages for the 4 scripts in that bundle, as proof. Its possible the owner wised up and modified the info to finally show whether or not file/template edits are required. He had the audacity to absurdly lie and claim that the product pages make it clear whether or not they require this. Obviously, they do not as shown below in my screenshots.

Had I known by the product pages (if they were properly advertised) all these dozens of file/template edits were required (literally), I would not have even purchased this. It makes upgrading vbulletin a pain, the software it self and the site style. Today, I lost my $169.98 because Paypal favored the seller for "non tangible item".

Just counted the number of file/template edits not properly advertised in the product requirements:

    vbattach: file 1 / templates 8
    vbcaption: files to edit (10) / 27 code changes! / templates 8
vbmagazine: files to edit (6) / template 4

Strange enough, I visit vbcover.com today and each product link shows this error:

    wow. that's horrible.

There is ZERO good reason now-a-days for template edits or file edits.

The only file I will give a budge on is misc.php. misc.php is missing hooks where needed in a lot of cases.

Through all the mods i've built, and tweaking i've done, misc.php was the only file i ever had to hard edit.

Did you try asking for a refund before going right to paypal?

I asked him for a refund as you can see in the screenshots. He absurdly denied false advertising and refused to refund. I also made it clear in my post that Paypal favored him due to "non tangible item". They're both horrible.

That's why I'm posting this, do not do business with this person. He's horrible and an obvious liar.

I hate file edits and template edits I do not mind just a couple, But not the numbers I gave you from their instruction files.

It is really not good. Couple months ago i was looking for a good support ticket systen and i found out Lionels system which was marked as upcoming product. As i know Lionel for a long time and consider him as a friend i contacted him and asked if it is possible for me to purchase the ticket system and use it on my site. I also made sure if he is working on the script and all the answers were yes. Then i purchased and start using it. Nearly 3 months passed and still there are no updates or any news about the script yet. When i purchased the script there was only 2 upcoming product , vBHelp and vBSports. Lionel released couple new scirpts but vBHelp still didn't receive any updates yet. The script works though but it has tons of missing options and bugs that needs to be corrected. Unfortunately as the script is ioncube encoded i can't fix them myself.

Yes, paypal does suck when it comes to full protection in regards to intangible items.

I must be doing something wrong because as a seller I *never* win with PayPal in regards to disputes for non-tangible goods. <sigh>

Can you list some alternatives that can protect both the buyer and seller that are reputable?

Without trying take this offtopic... to be honest he does have a point.
I too was promised a refund on the script (and branding free) within a few weeks of buying it. This was 8 months before he closed the site when apparently the script was still in development (because of a problem with the server I was trying to run it on I never even got the script working). At one point I sent an email once every 2 weeks and every email was ignored.

That wasn't an insult merely recognition of paying $100 for a script (in beta which implies a final product) which was never completed.

What makes it even worse is; before I bought the script I posted on their forum about my doubts about the script and I was assured that there would be no problem.
