Thoughts on vBulletin Blog - Anyone have success, pointers?

I'm thinking about adding vBulletin Blog. I was curious if anyone here was using it successfully. How do you moderate content? Do you let people blog about anything or do they have to stay on topic? If I do decide to purchase it, are there any suggestions on how to SEO/configure within vBSEO?

Thanks in advance for any, all opinions.

vBSEO 3.2.0 GOLD will include complete blog rewrites.

I try to keep our blog on topic. When I see posts that are completely non-relevant, I delete them.

    Joe-
I'm using 3.2 RC8, so I guess I'm set up for blogs? I've read where some folks are setting up their blogs at www.mydomain.com/blogs. I notice your site is set up that way. Is there anything different I'd have to do in terms of the vB blogs install? Or is it a standard install and vBSEO handles the redirects to /blogs?

    Thanks for your insight.

Yes, this is a default vbulletin blog installation with vBSEO making it rewritten like this.

The way the vBulletin blog is at the moment, I do not think it is worth a single penny! It is lacking features, and it just looks so outdated. Wordpress is free, and a lot, lot better - it can also be integrated with vBulletin as there is a thread over @ vbulletin.org explaining how to do this.

    it's a n00b nightmare.

somehow, new sign ups find there way in there and ask tech questions there instead of the proper forum.

hindsight, i shouldn't have ever installed it.

Yea, same here. It's just missing way too many features that "bloggers" are used to. The biggest complaint I hear by far is always about the WYSIWYG editor.

User permissions may help w/ the misuse of it though.

I totally agree with that. I hope to see vB Blog released soon, hoping it will be any good.
I've been already thinking about customizing vB Blog a bit more, but right now with version 1.1.x hopefully soon available it would be a waste of time.

Still thinking about a proper alternative though. Wordpress has all the features, but I guess Drupal would integrate much better with vB.

I might gonna try vBadvanced Dynamics as well, although I'm not really familiar with this yet.

I tried doing my own blog on my blog and found its present user friendliness to be lacking. Its a nightmare to use.

No clearly defined buttons and a lot of hit and miss just starting your blog

vb blog is awful. we're using it but will move over to run blogs on our vbdrupal install soon. we've been waiting for vb blog to start actually deliver some decent features and usability, but it a long wait and no sign of doing anything half decent anytime soon

I was planning to do that as well. However I would wait just a little bit, since vb.com just announced their new vB Blog to be released soon Blog Development: Group Blogs - vBulletin Community Forum
