Spammers getting hold of my email

    Hey,

Since we have increased traffic I'm getting a lot of spam.

I think the spammers just sign-up to get the email.

Also when some of them sign-up with a dead email address I keep getting the delivery failure messages in my inbox.

Can I stop this at all?

    Thanks.

    Dave.

    Hi Dave,

Most of the time, these spammers are using an automated service to sign up. The ones I have noticed on my forums all have "Man" as their Biography (field1). They wait a while, then spring spam posts on you.

After installing the Is Bot and Spam Blocker mods from vBulletin.org, 80-90% of these were blocked at registration.

Had to uninstall the email spam list MOD, it kept banning genuine users on free email addresses.

Indeed. It will do that, because 90% of those free email providers are havens for spammers.

There's a 'whitelist' somewhere in the .txt files, or you can just remove the domians you dont want to block in the file named after the first letter of the domain. (ie: hotmail.com is in c.txt).
