You should try creating a contest at sitepoint. You'll probably get a lot of excellent submissions there. You just need to define your initial ideas on what you would like.

Of the two provided, I link the 2nd. However, the 2nd option makes it appear to be more about weight lifting. If you are more general fitness, then your logo could throw some people off, i.e. skew their impression of what your site is about.

The first logo though the man is seen through the fitness industry. I see it and a couple other companies already come to mind.
It may be best to not listen to anything I say for advice. :spin:

Agree with Josh. But I recommend get a pro to do it. What's a few hundred $ for something this important? TheLogoFactory.com e.g. is not a bad choice for small to medium sites/businesses.

Yeah you need to perform some good research before hiring a designer, I'm currently in the middle of hiring one too. About the logo's you are showing: I think Josh meant the first one is already done so many times, using those shapes to make an illustration of a human body in the logo that is.

It's very important you meet these requirements:
    - needs to be as simple as possible
    - needs to be very original and unique
    - use a very readable font

For example Imo I would not use a serif font for a fitness logo like you are doing in logo #2. Fitness is all about slim bodies so I believe you need curves and little corners in your logo. But it's not bad at all what you are showing

Right I meant the first one is seen a lot in the fitness industry.
Maybe just something extremely simple. I was having a hard time designing something also, but I finally found one I liked.

To me it was a businesse logo first and then a logo for vbulletin

Your old logo (the attached one) makes me think about fitness but more like spinning, dance etc... It's also more a feminine logo if you know what I mean.

From the two above (third post) I would definatly go for number two when it comes to uniqueness but it needs a litle retouching, it's all a little too blocky. A geometric shape could help the unity of it. I think it would look good on shirts when finished!

On the other site I like the podcast logo. Good luck

@ Josh: nice and simple, looks professional, I like it

ibodybuild - I think any aspect of a man as part of a logo is seen over and over again in the fitness industry. I would try to stay away from it as much as I can and go with something more contemporary. It doesn't even really need to have anything related to fitness but as long as people can see something that resembles your logo and think of your product.

Regarding your comment. I actually trying a couple fancier things with little balls making swooshs around but I wanted something very clean and professional. So what I did was just implement the logo into the lettering, to me I think that makes a huge difference.

I also took some mtime to see what makes certain companies stick out and what their logo was for instance. Target their bulls eyes. Anyways, thanks for the nice comments. I also like your pod cast one but to me the top arches really draw my attention away from everything else.

Here is a link to the company who printed my cards they are in England I believe. If you need a new logo I believe they do logo design also.

    Metal Business Cards
