| New class of semi-dedicated server
I'm finding out the hard way that seo success is a two-edged sword. First vbseo increases your server load per visitor (less now, thanks Oleg) and then the better google rankings get you more visitors. So I outgrew my semi-dedicated server just a few months after installing vbseo. I upgraded to a VPS, but it was quickly obvious that was a mistake (it actually had less power than the semi-dedicated server I was on). And I couldn't afford to go to a dedicated server (5-10 times what I was paying just a few weeks ago). I bugged Oleg for tweaks, and bugged the vbulletin guys for tweaks, and bugged my server company into implementing all these tweaks. But it still wasn't enough. But the head of customer service read one of my forum posts there, and PM'd me that they were considering a new class of semi-dedicated server in between what they already offered and a dedicated server. I quickly started bugging the CEO about what a great idea this was, and he expressed doubt that there was a demand for such a thing. So here I am, on the threshold of having this major hardware, tweaked out for power-users (yet blissfully free of having to manage it) and with the promise that there'd never be more than 4 or 5 users per server. But I still have to convince the CEO that there's a demand for such a thing. So my question is this: is there? Would you be interested in this (assuming it was fairly-priced)? Rather than take up any more of vbseo's bandwidth, if you're interested hop over to feedback request, Sdx Pro proposal - Web Hosting Forums and express your opinion. |

the problem with all this hypothetical is that 4-5 users and X domains in itself means nothing. i have 20 domains on my server. 17 of them could easily run on a $7 a month host box at XYZ hosting. the other 3, i'm near capacity of what i feel is "good resources" on my quad proc, 2gb ram machine. next step for me is 4gb of ram and a new raid10 disk array. so here i am, one user, with 3 domains, and i'd use 150% of that box he's offering. whats to stop me from signing up, and using all the resources? if you've outgrown a vps, its time to move dedicated. if you can't afford a dedicated, find a partner and split the costs. That's what i did until i outgrew our shared server. |

One of the things still being discussed is the possibility of one domain per user.
