Need some Help - Can't connect to domain

I was able to connect to Coast to Coast - Alternative Topics last night fine, but at some point this morning it stopped working for me. The problem is that if I use a service such as Anonymizer, Poodle Predicter, or a website speed service, Keyword Density analyzer - they all get to the site via the domain fine.

EDIT: It appears the site does work with the domain, as I typed in the domain name and the title appears above. I will try and use a Proxy and see what, if anything that does to solve the problem. Though that will only be a temp fix.

I am beginning to believe this has something to do with my ISP versus the actual DNS Bind (otherwise those sites would not be able to get to it)

My question would be, can you access the domain?

If so - what could I do to fix this issue on my end, without involving the ISP (they haven't a clue what they are talking about!)

Also- I can get to the site via the IP address for both http and ftp but neither work for the actual domain. (I also remember this happening once before when I used a VPS - however this is on a dedicated server with cpanel..)

    Hello Bob,

I can access coasttocoast.fm with no problem.
You can check the IP you get for this domain with "ping coasttocoast.fm" command (it's 208.109.100.97 in my case).

That is the correct IP address - I tried installing and running AOL's free trial and while on the aol browser I am able to access the domain - but I can't using either IE 7 or firefox (latest)

Something is going on and may have to do with the browers.... any one have any ideas on what may be going on?

    Firefox gives me:

    Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at Coast to Coast - Alternative Topics.

    * Check the address for typing errors such as
    ww.example.com instead of
    www.example.com

    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.

    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Do you have an entry in your hosts fine pointing that domain name to another IP? If you ping that domain what IP does it show?

I tried to ping the domain and it returned an error saying the host coasttocoast.fm could not be found. I am able to use the domain while on the aol browser...but nothing else.

I may have to reformat my PC or install a 2nd OS on another partition and see what happens with that.

It sounds like your main ISP's DNS may not be updated yet...

At a command prompt try doing a IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS

Are you on broadband? If so, try power cycling your cable/dsl modem.

In the meantime, you can manually assign IP to the domain name at your computer (\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts for Windows).

Thanks Oleg! That is working perfectly... I never knew about that little trick.

After almost 1 week later and the domains still did not respond (beyond the method supplied by Oleg) I went through the server DNS zones and found the SOA Refresh rates to be extremelly high (86000) and applied new settings to all zones. The new settings are now set at 7200 - and all domains are now working without any issues.

    This is just an update...
