Thumbs down lol phpBB seo ads

have you guys done a search on vbseo lately with google and seen this ad at the right side (attached below). Why would a phpBB related company even bother advertising and trying to reach vb users? I just thought that the guy just wasted his money for no good advertisement.

I don't think you get it. It's an add for a free url rewrite program, for phpbb called "magic SEO"

They use the keyword "vbSEO" to get the ad showed when people do a search for vbseo /vbulletin.

If people start to use more phpBB, it's good for their community I guess. Obviously if one is already using vbseo/vBulletin, they will not even consider clicking on that ad, so it's actually not a bad idea to reach potential users.

I don't think it's a bad idea at all.... although I would (at least) try to restrict the session IDs from showing in that first visit to minimize the number of prospects that will leave without ever looking back

no I know I get your points and I agree with them. One thing I still don't get though is that why he is using or targetting keywords such as vbseo? I mean the only part I don't get is that I don't really or can't imagine really searching for the keywords "vbseo" if I didn't own a vBulletin license or if I was not looking to optimize my forums for search engines. In fact, I would have never heard of it if I wasn't active in the vbulletin community. And I think it is one reason that this site has only 11 registered members who never posted, and dutchbb, I can see it, however, this seo system costs $89 .

However, the only good side of this ad that I see now is for those running multiple sites, and that they didn't bother to purchase vb licenses for all. But I don't think if anyone decides to go with a free forum such as phpbb that they will be willing to pay $89 for a addon.

Maybe the guy is using some marketting/seo trick that I still haven't learned. lol I don't know, I'm not trying to debate or anything, I just found it funny the first place.

where is the vbseo logo used?

its merely text.... i don't think that would hold up in court.
