How many links does a site need?

I wanted to know how many links does a new website need to get a pr rating from google...sorry if it sounds stupid..i am new to website building and my website All Supplement Info has a pr of 0..i have been exchanging links, but at how many link will my PR change?

You need to understand how Google PR works.

• When you have a link from a say PR5 page, and that page has less than around 70 links on that page, your page will get a PR4, ie PR less one of the page that links to you.
• The visible PR on the toolbar updates only around every three months. A good tracker of the movements is via Page Rank Update or Export List History - PageRank - PR
• Google keeps track of the ACTUAL PR on an ongoing basis, adding in the PR from every link that is made to you

But Google PR is of course not the only thing that you need. You need:

• select phrases that people are actually searching for, and that you stand a chance of ranking for against the competition
• putting those phrases in the right places on your pages
• getting the technology of your site seo friendly (like what vbseo does)
• getting inbound links, especially links with the anchor text being the phrase that you are trying to rank for.

Then luck, yes luck. There are so many things that can and do go wrong.
