    Has Google been hacked?

Has the google.co.uk or .com homepage been hacked because I've been reading up about this base64 hack on forum owners which involves a broken GIF image and just happened to view the page info for google.co.uk on my Firefox browser and noticed that it displayed info for a background image that appeared to be broken, the info provided by Firefox is:

    data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAID/AMDAwAAAACH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw%3D%3D

I've enclosed a couple of screenshots though you can probably view the info for yourself if you have Firefox.

Does this mean that the Google homepage has been hacked!!!

No wonder so many sites are being hacked if this is the way in...

You should read up on other ways base64 encoding is used rather than assuming that something 'has been hacked'.

In this case it looks like they're encoding a gif image.

To Mert and tavenger5 yes you are probably right, but it did give me quite a shock when I noticed that it was a broken background GIF image, I compared the coding to that used by Yahoo and Bing home pages and noticed that they aren't using this method so thought it best that I brought it to the attention of more knowledgeable forum users to at least take a look at. I guess I'm on edge over the whole hacking exploit!
