Hacks that cause not Valid XHTML errors

I know of two hacks that add not Valid XHTML errors to forums so far.

Quick register adds about ten or twenty errors and so does mgc chat box.

The chat box you can get round by turning it off to non member viewing.

The quick register has several errors it produces. One being doubling the footer code. It does not show to the naked eye, but if you check the source code its there.

Any others to be aware of?

probably all of them...

that's just the level of code quality you get from .org hacks.

you'd think if they can't even make simple html, imagine what they are/could be doing to your database or server load?

install sparingly, edit always.

The level of vb.org hacks are getting terrible each other day. Old days vb.org was a quality place and there were great coders sharing their knowledge. Also with manuel file edits , and lower number of users org was a perfect place to learn coding. I can easily say i learned tons from org but nowadays all good coders left the site as some had problems with new management , some had problems offering free support etc.. I strongly suggest everyone to read the code twice before installing any hack from org as most of them are terribly coded.

Yes for sure the quick register does not validate. I was working on a clients site and I rewrote the template code to fix it. A ton of <br> tags.

Without blowing the trumpets of you guys too much.
One of the reasons I spend more time on here asking technical questions is purely because of the support level and the help you give.

Plus you don't get that dreaded remove all your hacks and that vbseo is Satan's helper type responses.

As you can gather, I'm on that learning curve myself going from complete idiot with adding bits to just idiot with minor knowledge managing to break less each day.

The xhtml checker has been an eye opener for just how many errors can be added to a template with such minor coding errors. Another one that I keep finding is <CENTRE> as opposed to <centre> as tags

One day I might just get to being half as good as many of you guys are

I'm at the stage now where you start to realise its content and presentation over gimmicks that draws members in, plus VBSEO of course

That's me!

The more you learn, the more you realise you have to learn. vB and vBSEO are so Zen it scares me sometimes.

Trust me, it's the same in reverse. The reason i spend a lot of time here vs any other vb or webmaster site is because people actually appreciate your help here.

Quick Register is bad for SEO. I'd remove it.
