I know this is a bit old, but I've been getting into Twitter lately, even setup a site that post Twitter Questions and Answers

We have been considering using it as a team here. CNN provides incredible promotion for it.

i've made only a handful of snippit posts on it, but picked up about 50+ followers, and i even got a new advertiser who was referred to me through twitter.

    so, it is useful.

problem is, what do you post? i'm not a 'news' site. I don't offer anything that is the latest and greatest and upcoming. Highlighting a thread gets old real fast.

I'm not 100% on it's use for me and other non-news style niche sites. If not news, even things like product releases, awards, etc can be listed for a quick promo. But, i don't ever have any of that.

Our consideration was to allow our team to feel more connected since many of us work in separate offices located all around the world. So in this regard, we were not intending to use it as a marketing tool, but rather a communication device for private use by the team.

In a traditional office, you can peek over Jason or Brandon or Joe or Brian's cube to find out what they are working on at the moment. While there are great efficiencies in tearing down those cubes... the whole realization of the idea of telecommuting... it does create a bit of a sense of disconnectedness or isolation.

Perhaps twitter might be helpful in that context. I wonder when will they release twitter video, or have they already?

We attach a transmitter that interfaces with all public security cameras and transmits those images automatically as we pass through the field of view to our twitter video feeds

Or perhaps we just attach a visor camera, with voice activation: "Twitter Record", "Twitter Stop". That would be a very useful way to share your frustrating experiences when someone gives you a hard time!

I haven't thought of a way to leverage Twitter yet. The announcement of AdSense for Tweets might get my brain working harder.

I'm using it for our website Twitter / drugscom - posting news, drug alerts and site updates at the moment.

I'm also starting to post under my personal account - Twitter / noodlesnz

Actually, it'd be nice if vbulletin had a space to put in twitter info, e.g. into profile etc

I thought the same thing when it began. I still haven't started using it, but I can see that it's going to have more and more impact.

I like twitter ... I use it for my board for publishing new threads (twitterfeed) and admin notes (down for maintanance, update in progresse, ...). I use it in most of my blogs to notify about updates, write just a little breaking news with my iPhone if I spot something that is worth to be twittered.

What can be done on twitter, that can't be done on your forums .

I don't understand the need to complicate things and divert away from the forum.

I see someone got a twitter account setup
    Twitter / vbseo
I see a lot of people talking about vBulletin stuff on twitter, here are a few services to help track stats on twitter.
I like to use Short URLs with analytics, social media monitoring, and geotargeting - Cligs for most my links, I can track when they where clicked, and what part of the world they are from.
