Wink Creating a webmaster resource...yeah, another one!!

OK, so as the title says im currently creating a new webmaster resource...why? Because I love everything webmaster, creating communities, websites, programming, designing, so why not make one of my communities involved in something i really love?

The site is under heavy constructuion so i wont be posting up any links, but heres what i plan to have on the site
    • Profiles - get your free profile like myspace where you can fill in information such as graphic designers could post up images, seo companies could post up contact details and testimonials, and normal webmasters could post a page about themselves
    • Blogs - Everyone gets their own blog which they can edit, update, delete and even get their own rss feed
    • Gallery, all profiles will be linked to their own gallery to members cna upload pictures
    • Forums - vbulletin will be integrated to allow the true heart of webmaster communities to come to light, normal profile links will actually link to site profile and not normal vbulletin profile, and avatars will be generated from the profile
    • Articles - I plan on having an article system where people can submit articles as well as a graphic to the website
Need some more ideas..what do you think of the plans so far? I'm also going to think about something such as favorite sites and you can see how many people have that as their favourite site or somethin along those lines..IDEAS ON THAT ASPECT ARE MUCH APPRECIATED

Sorry for the long post, hope i got my idea across..this would be completely free..would you signup on something like this? AND any suggestions are most welcom!

I see you haven't gotten a big response since you posted this over 14 hours ago. It sounds ambitious, but I already belong to 18 webmaster related forums and several other vBulletin specific forums. Trying to get answers to some questions is not that easy. Just recently I have posted on 4 different forums trying to get a solution to what I thought was a fairly easy problem for the accomplished coders who frequent many of these forums. There was even some bragging about solving problems by experienced coders right here at vBSEO, so I posted the problem here too: http://www.vbseo.com/f46/rounded-cor...s-images-8085/ Only one response and no solution yet.

Although I credit webmaster type forums for most of my limited abilities, and I certainly do enjoy learning new things, I am not into a long term social relationship at these kinds of forums. The blogs and profile goodies and galleries just don't interest me in this type of forum. Those things might hold an attraction for me in other types of forums that I enjoy participating in -- computer modding, career and health related -- but not webmastering. For that I just want the occasional quickie. Find the solution to a problem, learn a new trick or hone my skills and be outa there to put them to use on my own sites.

Sorry. I did think you deserved a response though, even if it wasn't a positive one. I wish you luck.

So many sites including myself are very similiar to this, to make it the 'perfect' site which you mention, it really needs that one thing that stands out, that is the feature of the site. you have lots of neat things but not one thing that really grabs the attention of people who will enter your site. My site is no different, and im yet to find the 1 thing to really grab my members attention, but once you think of that idea, let me know as well lol. good luck.

Glen - there is obviously a lot of competition in the webmaster area. BUT - if you love it - and you take a unique approach, I'm sure you can make an impact.

One think is sure, I will not create a site cloned with hacks that everyone can have them at vBulletin.org site.
And I will make sure I will not have the same type of structure (MySpace, Blog, etc) like other sites. It's a tech site, who cares how my girlfriend looks? Just an example...
You need to have something that will make your users come from big sites to your small community.
When you do, then it will be for sure a success, otherwise, is not worth the effort.
People will never come to a small site that have the same content/design like other 830,000 ones available on the net.

    Just my thoughts.

IMO, its an overly saturated market, with low-paying ads, even lower CTR, and the odds of beating one of the big ones is slim to none.

I don't care if it has blogs (I have my own) or profiles (I have a myspace account). Making the site "different" with "Features" won't gain the audience.

What matters MOST to me on a webmaster forum, is the users. If I'm the smartest one there, I won't be there for long. I go to webmaster boards for help 90% of the time. Very rarely do I have the spare time to assist others as much as i'd like to. In fact, I'm on here more than SP, DP, and all the rest combined. I don't know why, but I like it here

I honestly think you're wasting your time, but good luck if you do push forward with it.
