Charging people to have links to their site...

I want to know what you guys charge for site-wide header text-links. Like, dnScoop - Domain Name Value, History, Stats Tool and Forums is saying I should charge ~$30/link/month but this site I'm looking at...all these people are selling links for $3/month and I want to make sure I charge people fairly.

    My stats:
    PR3
    Alexa: ~20k
    ~40k members
    3,300-3,900 uniques per day

Again, the buyer's links will be above the fold and site-wide. I almost think that $30 is way too cheap because it will be on all my pages + above the fold.

Like I said, I want to be fair with my pricing...which is why I'm asking you guys.

From the sounds of it, they were basically going after people that user TLA. These sites I'll be linking to fall within my niche so I think it would be fine but...who knows I guess.

A sitewide link is a scary move these days. And think about it, it's VERY easy to algorithmically determine (and consequently devalue) a link that appears in all pages of a website.

If I'd be buying links, I'd try to mimic a "natural" link-building scenario that includes links from deeper pages, links in-context (having those reside in meaningful content), and have them point back to my homepage as well as my deeper pages within the site, evidencing that the site is valuable globally as well as locally (value per-page).

I wouldn't do it at all. I just turned down $300/month from automotive.com
