#5 - BoardTracker does not 'steal' content from boards, we do not display whole threads, we do not display replies, we do not show a cached version of your threads. BoardTracker works like any search engine in that it generates a small snippet of a thread which links directly back to the original thread on the board itself. You cannot read threads on boardtracker, you have to visit the board to view it.
I noticed this part. If that's true, then it sounds like they are not taking much more data than a typical RSS feed.

What I saw as a unregistered user is pretty benign. However, their bot collects data as a registered user, and they offer a premium service that might go beyond what's described in the text you quoted. I'm reserving judgement for the long term, not going to worry about it for now.

its more of self promotion thing here, lot of threads from our sites are fully indexed by boardreader.
morever displaying adsense on others content is harmful for sure, we never registered our forums with boardreader infact even banned/disallowed them in robots.txt but still they continue indexing stuff.

I have tried to de-list our forums from there website, but they wont do it.. even after banning boardreader in robots.txt they still follow our website :/

They mostly index our content using RSS feeds..

This is how I do it,

Create the user (if not already there), ban the user and the IP address: 62.90.210.65

To remove a your board entirely, make sure you have the following in your robots.txt

    User-agent: BoardReader
    Disallow: /

In recent past, there is a massive increase in sites like boardreader.com who fetch your forum feed and create there own content rich sites :/

BoardTracker is not BoardReader. These are two different sites, systems and companies. So please do not confuse the two.

Unlike other search engines, BoardTracker does not have a full thread/page cache of all the posts and text from forums.
We are happy to be special in some things.

As for BoardReader, as this thread seems to be about.. you will have to ask BoardReader.

BoardReader is just being a big pain. even after disallowing boardreader in robots.txt they still keep crawling !

Morever if it is boardreader or boardtracker, you pull maximum content from RSS feeds and display the same on your advertisement rich pages !

This not a nice search engine at all !
this just being copying other sites data and calling yourself as some special search engine

Should proceed ahead to DMCA now !

BoardReader displays Google Adsense with our copyrighted content.

Report policy violations to Google Adsense (DMCA complaints).
