    Unhappy Attachment Problem

    I lost an attachment.

I uploaded it a few weeks ago and today people couldn't find it.

    I can't find it.

It's a LARGE (5.7 MB) .pdf file that has disappeared.

On the main screen vB thinks I have an attachment because I can see the paperclip. But the URL doesn't have a real file name (...com/tips-tricks-techniques/#).

When I try to re-upload it via "upload attachement" it times out. When I upload it and tell it to upload from a URL, it gives me a database error.

I went in to admin and asked vB to fix any database errors and the paperclip still shows up.

(...about 10 minutes has gone by since the above...)

Okay, I figured I would "trick" vB.

I edited the post, uploaded a small file, saved it then deleted it.

    The paperclip still shows up.

I try to upload the file but it times out again (I am assuming that is the issue when it says, "upload failed").

I upload it from a URL again...

WHAT THE??? It looks like it worked this time!

Is this a vB issue? vBSEO issue? Just my luck issue?

This is scary. I don't want a database error!

    Any ideas what happened?

    it probably uploaded half way.

being large, php probably timed out.

    check your ACP.

    PHP Max Post Size

    PHP Maximum Upload Size
find those options in the header.

if they are small, you may need up update the php.ini file to not timeout on large files.

Is the php.ini a vB file or system file?

And regarding the disappearing attachment... it WAS there up until a few days ago and then it vanished.
