Amd Opteron or Pentium D for Server

I am planning to change my dedicated server supplier and i think i decided to go with Softlayer

I planned which upgrades i will get on the server but one thing i couldn't decide is which one shall i go with.

First option

AMD Opteron 165

• 2 x 1.8GHz Processors
• 2 x 1MB Cache
• 1GB ECC DDR 400 RAM
• 2000GB Public Bandwidth
• Unlimited Private Network Bandwidth
• 5 Public IP Addresses
• Windows / RHEL / CentOS

I will upgrade the server with 1000mbit uplink 2 gb ecc ddr 400 ram

Second Option

Intel Pentium D 920

• 2 x 2.8GHz Processors
• 2 x 2MB Cache
• 1GB ECC DDRII 677 RAM
• 2000GB Public Bandwidth
• Unlimited Private Network Bandwidth
• 5 Public IP Addresses
• Windows / RHEL / BSD / CentOS

I will upgrade the server as same as above.

Here comes the question which one will you advise and which one gives better perfonmance ?

I think both servers can handle my board pretty easy. I usually have 20-40 members 150-240 guests with 15 min cookie timeout. Instead of vbseo i have geek article and review system , geek auto link pro (with around 300 autolinks ) , photopost vbgallery , v3arcade etc...

My current page load average is
Forumhome : Page generated in 0,27786 seconds with 20 queries
Cmps Index : Page generated in 0,47613 seconds with 52 queries

Opteron's without a doubt

i run 7 servers on intel platform and im satisfied very well .... and i have a lot of pages on it and all works fine .... for now

all of them run on freebsd

so my vote go for intel ... but is still your decisin .... and i think amd is cheaper then intel

both servers cost the same money thats why i cannot make a decision.
