RV Forum
I recently installed Vbseo (2 days ago).
I would love to hear any suggestions on improvement and what not. Forum has been live about 4 months. Registrations are few and far between, 1-2 a day.
Are the descriptions ok?
thanks alot

Your site looks very nice. I have the following recommendations:
- Can you move the top 5 threads to the bottom, make them members only?
- Your forum names and descriptions look good. You can always do a followup review for the descriptions at any time to determine if there are other related keywords that you might like to add.
- I prefer replacing the showpost links with permalink. This is an option in the vBSEO control panel (vbseocp.php).
- I would remove the forum descriptions from the top of thread pages.
- You should try installing the welcome headers modification and convert it to an image.
- You should try experimenting with our relevant replacements feature.
I like the overall fill of the site i agree with the top 5 threads though.
It may be best to not listen to anything I say for advice. :spin:
Thank you both for the comments.
I am using a Latest thread mod from vb.org, and there isnt a setting for member only. I can however move it to the bottom, but curious why? I thought it may help with activity having it on top, but could be wrong. Its only been there for about 3 weeks. Can you move the top 5 threads to the bottom, make them members only?
I am not familiar with what this does, but I will look into it. I was "scared" to change anything, cause I have read that usually an out of the box config is right for most. Which is why I was asking for some adviceI prefer replacing the showpost links with permalink. This is an option in the vBSEO control panel (vbseocp.php).
I am using this mod should I remove that? When I do that, I still have forum titles, is there another way to disable them?I would remove the forum descriptions from the top of thread pages.
Working on this, read about it. Trying to find someone to help with that, not good with graphics stuff, but going to do it for sure. You should try installing the welcome headers modification and convert it to an image.

you can use a conditonal in your template for this. try this -I am using a Latest thread mod from vb.org, and there isnt a setting for member only. Code:<if condition="$show['member']"> code for your latest threads </if>it removes links for the showpost pages (that only have a single post), and replaces them with anchors to the posts within the threads. you've got more content on the whole page and it's better to have search engines find your entire threads than a single post...I am not familiar with what this does, but I will look into it. Thanks for the tip. Where exactly would I put that? Or modify the actual product? I am not very code savvy, at all

Ok, Mine is currently set to Display Permalink besides Showpost Linkit removes links for the showpost pages (that only have a single post), and replaces them with anchors to the posts within the threads. you've got more content on the whole page and it's better to have search engines find your entire threads than a single post
and your saying to change that to
Replace post number link with Permalink
Will replace individual showpost links with the "Permalink" link. Note: Posts will no longer be accessible individually.
Is that right?
thanks
Look nice. Good logo.
yeah, exactly. it's a personal preference, but for me, i found the links to the individual post pages really didn't serve much of a purpose anyway. i'd always rather see the post in context in the thread, and the permalink gives you an anchor to the post in a thread, so in the long run, seems more helpful and better for seo.
Great, changed, thanks for the tips
Thanks for the compliment James, I didnt design it, but I am happy with the job he did for it
It is in your vbulletin options. What page exactly is it on? You can disable it on the forumhome and on the forumdisplay page.

I am looking at your showthread and do not see the forum description on it already. Am I missing something?

Yeah, if you click on vbulletin options, then Forum Display Options, its the first option listed to enable/disable forum descriptions
