    please analyse my site

would someone mind having a look at our site and tell me what is wrong, as we were on page 4 for 'web design forums' now we are on page 7 within only a few weeks,

I thought that maybe the keywords were a little excessive and I have tried to play with the title tags, but it seems to be making us worse not better

would it be that I have used h2 tags on the forum category names ?

any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you

Everything looks nice and finely set up. Some areas where you can improve:

    Title Tags:

» Homepage: Instead of "Web Design Forums - Web Design and Web Development Forums - webprocafe.com"; try using something that's short and concise; like "Web Design and Development Forums - WebProCafe" or just "Web Design and Web Development Forum".

» Category/Forum pages: You can remove the domain name from the title tag. Probably unneeded.

» Same with the thread pages. "HTML,XHTML,CSS,PHP & MySQL for Dummies" looks far better IMO than having "HTML,XHTML,CSS,PHP & MySQL for Dummies - I have just purchased a few books from eBay called - webprocafe.com"

    Indexed Pages:

» FAQ: You can disallow the /faq/. It's not worth being indexed.

» www-URLs: Remove those redundant URLs having 'www' from the index:
    site:www.webprocafe.com - Google Search

    HTML Markup:

» Found a popup menu code (having id of 'newposts_menu') when viewing as a guest. Try wrapping it in a conditional as I think the actual menu link is only visible to members.

» The 'posting rules' can be hidden from guests. Guests don't care if the BBCode, Smileys or IMG code is on or off. They don't have the permission to post, anyway.

    Typography:

» Not a fan of using a Serif typeface for the actual content. The headings and navigation text may actually look good in a Serif font (Georgia); but I'm all for using a Sans-Serif font (say... Helvetica or Verdana) for the category/forum descriptions and thread content (posts).

    Just my 2c.

thank you, I will check through those later today and make the necessary changes, I think it is rather strange how we seem to be going down in our chosen keywords, but our visitor rates are going up ?..

The power of long tail keywords!

60-80% of the time your visitors will enter your Forum via forumdisplay and showthread (where the actual content lies) via the search engines. So it's more important to optimise those pages, rather than working on improving just the homepage.
