    Hi Ladies / Gents.

Wanted to know if you can assist me in improving my forums. I've literally just had my vBSEO installed by Michael so it's all fresh on that front. I'm pretty new to the whole forum scene and getting page ranks up etc so any help is much appreciated.

My website is www.onetwofives.com - It's basically a forum for motorcyclists, especially for owners of Yamaha R-125 motorcycles and other 125cc motorcycles. I'm hoping to get into the top few sites on google for the follow words.

    125cc forums
    Yamaha R-125
    YZF-R125
    Yamaha R-125 De-restriction

I've just had a quick nose around on Webmaster tools which is provided by Google. Under the option "What googlebot see's" it appears the keywords it's picking up aren't at all relevent, and as such I can see this being a problem. Can someone tell me how to change this?

I'm willing to listen and learn so any help is much appreciated.

Also, before anyone comments, I am aware that there are typo's on the forum. This is being worked on over the next few days.

    Thanks for your help

    Thom

You're going to need to make your posts available to guests, else the search engines will never 'see' your content.

    Some tips:

    • Convert your welcome header to an image.
    • Strip out as much of the generic text in your sub-forum descriptions as possible.
      • Remove all statements such as "This section is mildly-moderated and spam will NOT be tolerated." Instead, make a site policy and post it somewhere as a sticky you can reference.
    • Your homepage has nothing set for the TITLE part. Big problem. You must fix this. Check to see what you have set for the title in your vBulletin control panel. If it's set, then you have an issue with your template.
    • Use our Relevant Replacements feature.
    • Remove your forum TITLE (which I see now is set) from your your thread pages, so that each thread can be optimized for its own content.
    • Choose the vBSEO Permalink option (in the vBSEO Control Panel) that replaces your showpost link with a Permalink instead.

    Thanks for that.

    Joe,

Following your suggestions I think I've done most of it. Can you have another look for me? I've opened up the forums aswell. How do I really make my keywords stand out. I really appreciate any advice you guys can give me as I've spent a lot of effort on this and want it to be a success.

    Many thanks.

    Thom

    • It looks like you have fixed up your forum descriptions. They look really good for each of the brand forums.
    • You should still try out the relevant replacements feature.
    • I would not just use OneTwoFives.com as my homepage title. I would at least at the tagline from your logo since that has keywords that can help you. You might even want to get the models of the 125cc bikes into the homepage title.

    OneTwoFives.com - Motorcycle Community - 125cc Engines (Derbi GPR-125 4V, Honda CBR-125, Yamaha YZF-R125)
    • Make sure that any of the major keywords you want to target are covered within sub-forum names, sub-forum descriptions, and/or threads that include them in the title.
    • I would also remove FAQ, Donate, Member's List, and Calendar from your navigation links (for guests) using template conditionals.
    • You should get rid of Albums and Social Groups as well, unless they are going to be available to guests (they are not right now).
    • I would leave out the Social Groups links for guests anyway.
    • In your upper nav bar, you could add links directly to each of your 125cc model sub-forums so that they would get coverage on every page of the forum.
