    My NBA Forum: Help please.

Basically I've followed a few guides on this forum on how to improve the SEO. I'm willing to look into more things and perhaps make changes. My forums been around for a week now (we restarted) and I just installed vbSEO today. I would love to hear some feedback on how relevant my style is and content. And if I'm heading into the right direction.

    Hello Jamie ,

You currently have two different notice for guests in text. You may want to move them to image , you can check the following article [HOW-TO] Make your Welcome Headers an image!

You may also want to check vBSEO Relevant Replacement option and use it for both forumdisplay and showthread pages.

Your style is not validated . You should work on the style and get it validated.

    I previously made <h1><h2> tags so I don't think it's very relevant.

What does the notices for guests in image form do? Right now it may not work because the forum is fluid. The layout will be uneven.

I've now removed them tags and added relevant replacements for previews:

    NBA Forum
    The NBA youtube thread.

Are they fine? I've still wrapped them in <h1> tags because the css works well with them. Will that still be relevant? I've just added the tags through the relevant placements page.

Help. If anything, this is making my website worse. It's been nothing I expected.

    Hi Jamie,

What issue are you having? You do not like the placement of the Relevant Replacements?

Let me know, and I'll provide some more suggestions.

BTW - Do you do well with the registration nag? I saw it following me down the page when I visited the thread link.

I have just released a new skin. I've added the relevant replacements and everything in this skin. How much better is it now? I'm hoping it's now error free.

    1. You have many validation issues. To be more specific go here: [Invalid] Markup Validation of http://www.nbadimensions.net/forums/ - W3C Markup Validator

You will see exactly what needs to be fixed.

    2. are you planning on having a homepage? I recommend having wordpress bridged with your vbulletin as your homepage, and then start doing some blogs with the latest nba news, higlights, scores etc.

    3. get rid of the nag screen for a month and see how you go without it. I personally have never signed up on a site with one. I hate them.

    4. change your welcome notice "Welcome on NBADimensions.net! Make sure to register - it's free and very quick! You have to register before you can post and participate in our discussions with other hardcore NBA fans. User profiles and some forums can only be seen by registered members. After you create your free account you will be able to customize many options, you will have the full access to all features, rumors, news and last but not least you will talk with hundreds of visitors who share the same interest as you." into an image, it is better for seo. there are posts around this site on how to do that.

    5. Add: sign up | forgot password
links under where people login. It will improve with people signing up, and will help people who forget there password.

    6. upgrade to 3.8

    ----

I'll talk more about other stuff once you do that.

What is the Nag screen? Sorry. I will be looking to validate and fix most of my forum tonight. Hopefully it will work. Do you have a wordpress home page? Perhaps I should get one going, I'm not sure how active it will be though. We will see.

I don't think I'm going to redo the forum welcome message because I have a fluid forum. It may ruin the design. I think the nag screen is that box that follows you as you scroll down. Removed that. I will be upgrading as soon as my other owner updates the fees. As for validation, I can't seem to update it without ruining my layout. Also, some I don't understand.

We're going to be working on a new feature that will provide the same advantages of converting the welcome header to an image, but will not require the complex steps to do so! It will be an image free solution, and will work better with fluid styles.

Sounds great mate, I suppose I could make the image a table and then put in the image. But really, it shouldn't take that much effort.
