Critique my site...

Leicester Talk

We are about a year old now, and I got some feedback when we first started but I'd be interested in getting some more so I can set out the improvements to be made this year...

I had around 60,000 visitors last year and only a small handful of registrations (around 10 - 20), so anyway to help the conversion there would help...

Also my adsense income isn't very good, so suggestions on better placements...

Actions I've already decided on:
- Mobile Applications (when VB get there * into gear)
- Then offline promotion

I reviewed your forum and here is my suggestions :

• Try to Validate all of your forum pages (including Showthread and forumdisplay) :[Invalid] Markup Validation of http://leicestertalk.net/forums - W3C Markup Validator
• Try to Add your Sitemap to Robots.txt file (Here is an example : robots.txt )
• Try to use a CDN service (like MaxCDN.com) using vbseo CDN feature.
• Try to submit your website in Directories like DMOZ and Yahoo directory.
• Try to include only Showthread / forumdisplay / blog pages in your sitemap
• Try to remove Calendar and FAQ only for guests

Validation is tricky, but you were right too many errors for my liking..
What would I need to put in the robots.txt not keen to download a random file
I already use a CDN so nothing to do here
DMOZ done, but I though yahoo had closed down?
I beleive they already are
Will use robots.txt to remove them from SE's

I uploaded a sample of robots.txt for you ( robots.txt ) , robots.txt should contain the Dynamic URLs which shouldn'n get indexed in Search engines like creating new thread or so many Java script files , and etc . and also it should contain your vbseo sitemap URL, you edit the file that I mentioned above.

About the Yahoo, Oh yeah I totally forgot it sorry , I was just giving you ideas . creating back links is the point , also you can submit your important articles to Mixx.com / Digg.com / and similar services.
