    Smile A Full Cup - review please :)

    Hi all - I just installed vbseo yesterday and am pretty much at a loss as to what to do next. Do I just sit and let it do it's thing? Or are there specific things I should do to "help it"?

    Would love a critique of my site and some guidance as to what to do next. Point me to current threads or whatever... Google definitely doesn't like my site as much as other engines, so I'd love to improve that.

    Thanks much!!

    Monica

    There appears to be a code problem on your site. I see a broken comment tag end at the top of the page:

    Code:
    -->
    Please make sure your code is valid.

    Down the road, you may want to consider freshening up your template. However, that is largely personal preference. FYI The vBSEO template is scheduled for release this year. You may be able to adapt it for your use.

    Search here for vbadvanced custom rewrite rules. You may be interested in trying them. They can basically convert your vBA URLs into static (.html) URLs.

    I also recommend that your homepage and forum homepage have titles with keywords related to what your forum does rather than the generic "A Full Cup". Although it reflects the name of your forum, it will not provide any SEO advantages for keywords related to what you do.

    This part alone is driving me crazy! I believe it has to do with the style, which I did not write. I find (what I think is) the erring code when I do "view source" here:
    Code:
    .spacer {
    padding: 7px 7px 7px 7px;
    }

    </style>

    <!-- / CSS Stylesheet -->
    -->
    </style>
    But I can't figure out where it's coming from! When I edit the style and find that piece of code (the Additional CSS definitions/ Customized in this style) it ENDS with the
    Code:
    <!-- / CSS Stylesheet -->
    there is no additonal --> and style ending after it! So I don't know where else to look! Any pointers?

    What browser are you using? None of my IE users can see this, nor can I in Safari, but I do see it in Firefox. Since only one person has ever complained, I haven't even spent time looking into it. But since you did I figured I'd better

    In addition to getting rid of the extra code:

    (1) you might consider moving the css to a file

    (2) fix the adsense integration so that the ads do not stick out (colors, etc). The google tower ad is annoying. Do you have a channel set up here to see if anyone is really clicking?

    (3) Integrate the google search into the pull down rather than a separate search box (unless this really works for you)

    (4) Fix / Change the welcome guest message so that the spacing is not so jumbled. Reading the message was difficult simply because my eyes didn't track in the normal left to right ... I'm still not sure what it says the site is all about ...

    Best of luck
