That's good to hear Marco. Many thanks. I have read the thread you quoted 10 times now. Still don't understand it though Could you give me a step by step on changing the RR to the vbseo version please?

Open vbseocp and scroll down until "Relevant Replacements"
and put the following codes in under this option "<!--VBSEO_RR_1-->"
    in forumdisplay add this
    Code:
<h2>[forum_title]</h2><p id="relevant_replacement">Below you will find a list of discussions in the <b>[forum_title]</b> forums at the [bb_title]. The [forum_title] forum [forum_description]</p>
    and this for showthread
    Code:
    <h2>[thread_title]</h2><p id="relevant_replacement">This is a discussion on <em>[thread_title]</em> within the <b>[forum_title]</b> forums, part of the [parent_forum_title] category; [first_post_20_words]...</p>

We're continuing to add good content so I'm looking forward to seeing that increase in traffic.
Can I ask one more question? Is my forum now correctly configured so that I can add the Disallow: *.php line to robots.txt?

I Don't like to add Disallow: *.php in your robots.txt
Just add disallow for any page you want and don't use this line

Thanks Marco. I've removed that line.

Disallow: *.html and Disallow: *.htm is okay though I assume?

    No
That will make Google not index any thread in your forum if you have your forum URLs at the end .html you shouldn't use this line

I've implemented the changes given by Briansol in his 'ultimate guide' so I don't have html links.

This is an example of what I have:

    tinnies/ Day Badges Database - Page 9 -

I can see googlebot getting 404 errors on html at the moment. Is it just checking links which it indexed prior to my change?

Okay Marco. Many thanks. Do you happen to know why Briansol disallows php? I asked the question over on his thread but there is no activity there.

You can use it if you are don't have any additional page in your forum and this page (.php) you want it to index

But if you don't have any additional .php page you can safely use Disallow: *.php

P.S : About Brain Please Check Out : so long, and thanks for all the fish

make sitemaps include old URL's its also recommended to disallow .php rather the naming each file, and either putting your pages at .html or just ending in a slash,

brians guide is only a guide you should make your site based on your own personal needs, and only take bits from his guide you think that will help you!!
