Do You think VBSEO will help my forum - bse2nse.com

    Hi,

I run the forum BSE2NSE Indian Stock Forum ... Its a stock forum (Indian stock forum to be precise).

I have installed a few free VB plugins which help me build traffic ... In the first year, i made traffic of close to 5000 hits a month and am now doing 13000 hits a month in the 2nd year (80% traffic from google)....

Do u think VBSEO will improve my traffic considering 80% of the traffic i receive is from google .... I already have a SEO plugin which tags all the search terms users hit to get to a particular page.

    Appreciate ur feedback !

Of course vBSEO will help you as vBSEO will allow you to rank your threads on higher positions on SE's. That will surely help you increase traffic you receive from search engines.

I just bought and installed VBSEO on my forum BSE2NSE Indian Stock Forum .... Spent 2 hours to setup all configurations which would suit my forum ... Pretty impressed with what VBSEO has to offer ... Pretty confident that this would make things better in the long run ...

Will post on how well VBSEO worked for me in coming months ...

Meanwhile, if someone can check if i have done a good job @ configuring VBSEO in my forum BSE2NSE Indian Stock Forum , i wud be really thankful ... I disabled Archive and made a few more critical changes ... Keeping fingers crossed !!!

    Welcome abaord!

    Things to check:
[How to] Setup www.yourdomain.com or yourdomain.com (www vs. non-www) - With .htaccess 301 redirects - vBulletin SEO Forums

I would recommend removing the chat and stats bars for guests (wrap the templates in if condtionals for $show['member']

I would also recommend disabling the Fuzzyseo mod. We had a discussion on it here:

Thanks Brian ... I really appreciate you spending some time to look into this. I believe the chat has been a encouraging thing for guests in my forum ... Although its a waste for the google bot ... Will hide WGO stats bar for guests ... That a nice suggestion ...

Fuzzy SEO worked well for me really ... I read the whole thread you pointed out. Its been more than 6 months since i had fuzzy logic and my traffic has come up 3 times since then (Although i cant say the full credit goes to fuzzy seo). And my google URL index ratio has not reduced like some ppl say having used fuzzy seo ... I will keep a close watch on these factors though ...

The real bugging problem i have is this ...

Google webmaster complains on my VBSEO XML Sitemaps that URL's are inaccessible ... Below's the detailed error.

    "URLs timed out
When we tested a sample of the URLs from your Sitemap, we found that some URLs were not accessible to Googlebot due to network timeouts. If this problem persists, please check the network availability of your DNS and web servers. All accessible URLs will still be submitted. "

    URL:http://bse2nse.com/showpost.php?48-Market-today-s-outlook

    Problem detected on:Nov 18, 2011

These seem to stale URL's that got left out during the URL Rewrite or may be to something else .... I see quite a few crawler errors giving links to my site which don't exist.

How can i filter these errors off from the sitemap being generated ... I turned off tags, albums and similar unwanted stuff from "VBSEO Sitemap Settings" .... I am not sure how to handle the main error i mentioned above though ... Any help is most appreciated ...

Note the old date--- webmaster tools is NOT real time. It's likely that your server was down/overloaded on that time google accessed it. google runs a VERY low timeout setting. If your site doesn't respond within 1 or 2 seconds, it marks it as down.

You should also make sure you've enabled the 'is vbseo installed' option, as that is NOT a vbseo url.

You may also want to disable showpost from the sitemap entirely. Focus the weight on the threads and forumdisplay.

I am thrilled and excited to report 50% rise in traffic just days after i installed and configured VBSEO ... Will post detailed traffic graph after a few months.

I just wanna change one thing in my forum right now. The forum threads being listed are in a dull blue font color. I want it changed. Need to know which stylevar needs to be modified for the same.

You can see in the below snapshot on which font color i want changed.

I figured this out myself ... Its link_color stylevar that needed to be changed ... I am super thrilled with VBSEO. It definitely works for forums with content to be indexed. It does a great job at SEO for VB..

Traffic rose instantly for me as Google had my Old URL's and also the new VBSEO URL rewrite URL's indexed ... I should see traffic dip again before it rises back ...

I will need to watch the performance over months to judge how good VBSEO has been ...

    Hoping for the best...

This is a 'normal' trend for established sites. It goes a bit like this in most cases:
    Attached Thumbnails Attached Thumbnails vbseo-install.png

I just disabled Fuzzyseo mod ... It gave good results for me... It doesn't seem to work with VBSEO though and the ratio of URL's indexed seems to have gone down ...

Hoping that the new URL structure from VBSEO will give good results going forward ...

After VBSEO, my indexed URL count has reduced from over 1000 to less than 500 ... Will this go up with time?

Am i missing something here? Anything wrong with my VBSEO Settings?
