Am I Using VBSeo To Its Full Potential?

Hi,

I asked Joe Ward if there was away in another thread:

Content Vs. Credit

to get my site critiqued without posting my URL. He said if I started a new thread here, the staff could help me out WITHOUT saying my URL or the name of my website. I just really would like to know if I'm using VBSeo to its full potential. My forum is still very young and new, so content is still coming along.

Thanks!

Your site looks great. I did notice that your header is over 250kb. You might want to try to compress the image size if you can.

You might want to use "US" instead of "U.S" in your forum descriptions, so the dot doesn't end up becoming a space.

You might want to expand the state acronyms in your form descriptions to state the actual full state name.

I prefer setting the option to replace the showpost link with the permalink (on showthread pages).

A review of your forum descriptions for opportunities to get more related keywords included is a good idea.

You might consider taking the "forum title" out of the TITLE tag part of your showthread template, to allow the pages to be optimized by the thread title, allowing you to harness more traffic from the thousands of different keywords from your user generated content (we call this "long tail search traffic").

Orange links are hard for me to read... I wouldn't stick around there long, as it bugged out my eyes.

kill the 5 ad spacers. one should suffice, and a link to your rates/how to advertise page would help

kill the border on your adsense units, and use the maroon instead of the orange for the link text. i think that will convert better

re-order your fourms. put your first 2 as your last two. site stuff and off topic should not be the focus of your site.

turn off your archive before it even gets indexed.

add rel="nofollow" to all the 3rd party sites on your links section on the homepage... or perhaps even remove it altogether. Free advertising for them? Charge 'em!

that's it from me. my eyes hurt, i can't look at it any more. I'd really consider a design change that's easier on the eyes

whoa, didn't think the site looked that horrible, a lot of people complimented the design and the feel...hhmmmmmm...i thank you for the heads up though, if i put the "no follow"...will it still help my page rank when someone searches those companies?...im not exactly sure what no follow does...why should i turn off the archive, just curious...

Odds are you won't rank for any of those terms at all in the first 50 pages with a simple link. Frankly, its a waste of space and free advertising IMO. the nofollow means if there's a spider on your site, it won't 'leave' to those .coms. It will stay on yours hitting other links that aren't nofollow'ed.

for the archive: Why the vBulletin archive is useless and counterproductive
