    Verification of Googles stats?

If my sitemap is split up across 10 different files, totaling 30k+ pages, and Google says it has downloaded it recently, how can I verify that the number of pages Google has indexed matches (somewhat) the amount that I submit? Is there any sort of confirmation that can be checked?

    Thanks!

There's currently no accurate way to know how many indexed pages you have in Google. Also, there's no guarantee that Google will add every page in your sitemap to their index. (And, it can take months for Google to get the pages indexed once it downloads your sitemap file.)

Your best bet is to use something like Google Analytics to track your search engine referrals, as that is a direct result of how well your site is indexed.

OK, my problem is that my site dropped from #1 to #3 for the two keywords that make up my domain name. I think this was caused by upgrading to SEO 3.x and VB3.6 and the sitemap plugin didn't work for about a month. While troubleshooting this I removed my site in the sitemap admin tool on Google and my site has not been in the top list ever since. So now when I check my indexed pages on Google I only see around 2k (two days ago it was only 128). So somehow I lost a bunch of rank and I'm eager to find out what caused it and how it can be avoided.

rankings change daily, if not hourly.

SEO is not a be-all done-all process. It constantly needs to be maintained and monitored.

Give it a little bit longer to re-spawn your stuff. it doesn't happen instantly. In fact, its a rather slow process. Nothing we can do about it. It's google.
