    build backlinks

and not just to the forum root, try and build some deep links like
Trumpet Discussion - TrumpetMaster this would be good, since all the threads are about trumpets..

Equipment - TrumpetMaster this would be a good deep link to try and promote also, several 1,000 threads on instruments

TrumpetMaster.com - Classifieds - Main Index - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds this is another link I would try and build.

anyways, thanks for your kind words

    Great looking site

ps. I think there are some rewrite rules that we can add for photopost, If I find them and I still have access to your site, I'll set them up for you

You should get rid of the "Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds" part of the title (if it is allowed by the license agreement).

Ok, So how do I build backlinks. Can you point me to an article? Do the back links need to come from sites that are related to our topic at TrumpetMaster.com ? Or can it be any site (the higer page rank the better).

For backlinks, focus on relevant sites only. Try creating interesting threads that link to related sites. Our LinkBack system will send PingBacks or Trackbacks that may result in links back to you.

Do you have the Google/yahoo sitemap generator installed yet? It's perfect for keeping track of the results. That is the next big step, and building links of course.

We always had a bunch of yahoo bots on our site and just one Google bot. Now I notice we have 2 google bots alot of the time. Is it possible that has something to do with the VBSEO?

I'm a total noob at this stuff. Just wondering.

Well, vBSEO is definitely going to impact crawling activity on your site.

However, with the millions of pages being crawled on a daily basis, it's hard to determine patterns in data such as # of bots online concurrently, frequency of visits, variation between Google vs. Yahoo, etc, or # of content harvested per visit.

In general, you should measure your success by an increased # of pages listed in the search engine indexes, and (as the ultimate indicator) growth in your monthly web hits.

Thought I would give an update since we installed VBSEO.

    Registrations way up

    Adsense Revenue way up

I searched "trumpet forum" "trumpet forums" "trumpet discssuon" and we seem to be #1. Used to be 2 or 3

Key words where we were no where close to the first page we are now on the first page of google.

I added some back links like suggested here and have been running vbseo for a month or two.

    Somethign is working!
