    vbseo Google site map

vbseo Google site map. I have seen that installed on other site, that is cool. I have been wanting to install it but...Not me....

I could figure it out.... Not yet anyway. Someday I will be able to install it on the site when I get better at doing these things.

I am sure one of the vBSEO Total Support staff would be more than willing to safely install the product onto your system for you.

Hey Micheal, I am sure they would but you know. I think I will wait til I get the other site up and going This way when I have vbseo installed next month, I will have them install it on there also.

I wouldn't feel right asking them to install at this time...

I know if I did it I would mess something up all this root files and php this and vbulletin that... Its all greek to me,lol.

    it's REALLY easy.

All you have to do is follow the ReadMe.html file that is included with the download.

All you need to do, is upload a folder via FTP into the same folder that showthread.php, and all the other main files are located.

Then enter the admin CP and push a couple buttons.

So, I will wait til I learn more about it before I attempt it. I will be doing some studying in the mean time and asking questions.

chmod is a setting to make the folder writable by the webserver or not. 777 makes it writable, so that the software can physically write a file to that directory. You can do this right through your ftp client. right click on the folder, and there should be a settings option (will depend on your ftp client).

forum root = yoursite.com or yoursite.com/forums or something similar.

Where ever you go to access your forum, thats your forum root.

so if you have access your site as http://yoursite.com/forums/
then you will upload the folder into the forums folder.

if you go STRAIGHT to your forums, your forum root is "/", i.e., http://www.yoursite.com/

just look for the folders called CustomAvatars and CustomProfilePics (these are default installations with vB). Put the folder at the same level as thes folders, so when listed you will see those folders, plus the sitemap folder, plus the regular files like showthread.php and so on.

Ok, That was informative..But confusing. Not confusing in the way it was stated, Confusing because I will have to do some looking and comparing what you said to the folders and file I have to work with....

Do you know what I mean? I am new at this and willing to try but Before I try I want to make sure I understand what I am doing. It takes me a while to figure these thing out but have a learning disability all my life, Hands on is the only way to learn for me.. All these word is just that words....lol.

So If I ask a bunch of questions Please bare with me....

    We all start somewhere

I'll be off and on for the next couple hours, so just keep posting questions if you get stuck.
