URLs in sitemp VS Indexed URLs in sitemap - What am I doing wrong?

    Hey all.

I have followed the best guides on this site for how to setup vbSEO so that it is properly optimized.

My forum is about 2 months old and my sitemap was originally submitted for my site during the first week of launch. It has been downloaded by Google (according to Webmaster) each day since then and most recently, today.

When I go to the search engine and type in keywords that people have used to get to my site (google tag cloud installed on the frontpage), I do not get the link back to the criteria that matches up. Instead, I get the homepage.

To be a bit more specific -- when I search for "wts shadowmourne", I find my site on the 2nd page with my homepage as the link instead of this link (just an example as there are several other links that match this keyword search as well): Masked Crusader

Is there a setting that I may have set incorrectly in my vbSEO or my sitemap generation?

This is really a very urgent issue as it seems that nothing is getting properly indexed in Google.

I think I may have found the culprit. In Webmaster, I was having the Sitemap grab the sitemap_1.xml.gz instead of the sitemap_index.xml.gz.

If anyone can tell me whether that would make the difference, it would be greatly appreciated!

If you have more than one sitemap file, then yes, it will make a difference as you were only submitting that 1 file.

You ddin't give us any stats on urls Vs indexed, so i don't know what you're looking at.

Here is a picture from my Webmaster :: http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...6d81d53077.png (the blog one is for Wordpress -- not tied to this current issue).

For the two months, it has been showing only 1 indexed URL while 2500+ were being submitted.

There are two files being generated by the vB sitemap generator that you guys recommend: sitemap_1.xml.gz and sitemap_index.xml.gz. I have been using the sitemap_1.xml.gz for the past 2 months.

Should I be submitting both of these files or just one of them?

Please let me know if you need any further information.

Looking at your sitemap file, the sitemap is completely wrong.
    http://www.maskedcrusader.com/sitemap_1.xml.gz

you have forumdisplay.php and /a/ urls in there instead of vbseo style urls.

Since only the home page is correct, webmaster tools is showing an accurate reading.

Verify your sitemap settings are correct and denote that vbseo is installed.

Deleted all the xml.gz files from the data folder, and re-generate the sitemap.
verify sitemap file is correct this time.

Then, Delete all submitted sitemaps for vb in webmaster tools, and submit sitemap_index.xml.gz only.

Where would have that forumdisplay.php and /a/ URLs enabled? I thought I had everything setup correctly. Guess not ><

I have forumdisplay.php set to on in the Sitemap options. If I set it to off, nothing displays in my sitemap.

I also have showthread.php set to on.

Those are the only two of the Sitemap settings that I have on in "Include..." part of the Sitemap Settings.

I regenerated my sitemap and added it to Webmaster again. Please let me know if the sitemap looks correct this time.

    Thanks!
