Trying to get to the bottom of....

Why my adsense revenue has plummeted !

The only change I have made to my board, per previous posts, was to stop posts being indexed in the sitemap - when I say that, I mean I deselected the Posts part of the options...

Whether it's a coincidence or not, I don't rightly know, but does it make sense, if I'm submitting less in effect in my sitemap, then consequently, adsense revenue is down ?

It's weird - impressions havent really changed, clicks are down, contextual content of ads, is to be honest, poor just now....I'm at a loss...

    Any ideas ?

My Adsense is down this month too. It may not be related to any change you made.

I'm hoping so - just regenerated a full sitemap with posts....

When I say plummeted, it's like night and day - I've gone from over $30 per day, to less than $10.

So I'm kinda keen to find out what's causing it....going to watch carefully over the next few days to see if the full bhuna sitemap (inc posts) makes any difference...

Pah and pfft as I'm apt to say just now...

I'll give you an answer from an advertiser's perspective --

    1. Don't take this the wrong way, but from $30 to $10 is nothing. There are domains I spend $100 a day on. A loss of $20 a day could easily happen from a single advertiser shutting down or altering a campaign.

    2. Its really easy now for advertisers to track what domains clicks came from. Forums typically have below average performance. An advertiser could have either bid down their CPC for your specific domain, or blacklisted it so the ad won't run any more.

    3. I don't know what market your in, but other changes can decrease what multiple advertisers are spending. The whole bidding system works well with each advertiser bidding the cost of each other up, but it can also go in reverse, with advertisers dropping bids one after the other.

I would suspect advertiser actions are playing a bigger role than what you've changed with your site. I've noticed ad context drop on some of my sites which I haven't laid a finger on in a year+.

Look at the stock market. everything is in shambles. companies are spending less and less to keep their bottom line down.

I've been 20% lower than usual all summer since oil spiked back in july.

    Great insights.

BTW - I see that you are an owner, but I don't have you assigned to a forum URL.

Could you please PM me your forum URL so that I can update your license?

Thanks for the very insightful answer.

It does actually make sense, and it's good to see it from an advertisers point of view.

Thanks again - whilst maybe not good for our adsense revenue, it has certainly made us realise that it's not necessarily an issue with the board.
