Total urls 20000, indexed only 423??

Hi there
i was looking at my google sitemap and i found this:
Total URLs in Sitemap : 20000
Indexed URLs in Sitemap : 423
so what can i do to let google index all these urls?

One good comparison factor you can use is to check the # of keywords that you are getting traffic from.

I would not be at all surprised if you find you are getting more keywords than you have pages indexed.

Typically this will demonstrate the inaccuracy of the indexed page count Google presents.

just give it time. it will never be equal, but it will move closer and closer.

Sitemap statistics:
Total URLs: 187036
Indexed URLs: 166185

my site map index show:

Total URLs: 1001980
indexed urls: 633921
and in google it shows 535,000
before i add my sitemap to google webmaster it was more than 850,000

Expect variations, but keep monitoring it a few times per month.

like adding these xml site maps to my site?

Building links helps to accelerate indexing, and make the crawling go deeper into your site.

building links in sitemap.html you mean?

No - I meant getting other websites to link back to your pages.
