Too many Google page views

I upgraded VBSEO sitemap and now abruptly overnight have 50% more page views showing in analytics which is strange. But AWS stats continues to show a normal pv count.

Is there a wrong setting somewhere to cause analytics to overstate pv's?

I searched my templates for "analytics" and can only find one instance of having placed the code there. I thought maybe I had put it there twice lately but that is not the case.

Anyone have any ideas?

by any chance, check your opera browser stats too. someone else recently reported a similar issue, and it was all from opera
