sitemap is html?

Hello,

I went to google webmaster tools and it gave me an error for my sitemap and said that it was html and that it needed to be corrected to the sitemap format. Anyway i can fix it? how did it get changed?

Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.

EDIT: My sitemap is redirecting to the forums.

http://noobgamers.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz

You should create site entry in webmaster tools with http://noobgamers.com/forum/ URL and submit sitemap_index.xml.gz in it.

In my post i have been using it like that for months and it has worked because i had added the sitemap_index.xml.gz to the root htaccess file & to the forum htaccess file. I'm not sure what happened now :(

NVM! I fixed it.

I got a related question.

Since the sitemap is in the /forums/ directory, Google does not accept URL in it that are located not in the /forums/ directory like in the http://mysite.com/photoplog directory.
Is there a fix for this?

EDIT: I guess/hope a rewrite rule in the sites root, like in the forums directory could help with that?
