Sitemap Generator and Moving from VB3.8 to VB4.0

    Hi,

I have installed the sitemap generator for my site running vb 3.8 and I have about 1.9 million links indexed in Google. If I move to VB4 which has different URL links, will I lose the indexed links?
What should I do in order not to loose the indexing?

Note: I bought vbseo but didn't use it yet. So my urls is the normal vb3 type url.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello,

vb4 does not change your forum urls if you use vbseo on both. You can select 'standard' urls in vb4 which will use the vb3 style urls without anything 'friendly' (recommneded if moving to vbseo in the future)

If you do not use vbseo, you should

    Thanks Brian for the reply.

Actually my question was if I move from vb3 (non friendly urls) to vb4 (with vb built-in friendly urls not vbseo) will this affect the indexed urls in google which was generated using vbseo site map generator?

Regarding moving to vbseo, I have been and still in a delama to move to vbseo (although I bought the addon more than 1 year ago). I have read so much which keeps confusing me more.

    Thanks again

standard urls will always 301 to friendly when they are on. vbseo sitemap generator is NOT compatible with vb's friendly urls at all, so if you are going that route, you should use vb's default sitemap tool.

I don't know why you are considering moving to vb4's built in garbage without issue but are afraid of vbseo.... vbseo is SUPERIOR in every way to vb4's built in options. We wouldn't be in business after 6 years if it didn't work.
