    I trust the sitemap doesn't run completely every day, it just updates itself incrementally? I ask because our initial sitemap run took 14 hours....

    it's probably because your the script timeout.

    I had a similar problem:
    Sitemap generation time
    2011 Average: 1 post every 5 seconds... 24/7

    The sitemap has a 'resume' feature to it. If it doesn't finish, the next time it triggers it will pick up where it left off.

    up your max_execution time, or remove some bloat from the sitemap.

    no, my script didn't timeout. it worked fine. 20mm URLs. I just want to know that it's not gonna run it from the same place next time.

    When it tried to run the next day:

    Please disable Include Show Post Pages , Generate Yahoo-Compatible Text Sitemap options in vBSEO Sitemap Generator , then delete all your existing sitemap files.
