ShowPost included in sitemap?

I need advice... what exactly is this aspect of a forum... when i click the url it is just one single post from a thread.. Would you recomend these not be included in the sitemap as they are incomplete, single posts from a complete thread. Please advise

Personally, I do not like including them in the sitemap, nor in the forum at all.

You can use our option to replace the showpost link with a permalink in the vBSEO Control Panel (vbseocp.php).

Even if you include them, you might choose to not include them in the sitemap, in order to focus crawling attention on the threads themselves.

ok great advice... can you elaborate on the permalink for me just a little bit please... not sure i understand what you meant.

The Permalink is a term borrowed from blogs. It basically means, the dedicated URL that should be used for any page (the one and only). This is important when users are linking to your pages from outside. The ultimate goal, which vBSEO helps ensure, is link consistency and consensus.

in my forum the permalink is by each post... this what you rec? or is there another step? Display Permalink besides Showpost Link is what option i have selected.

Yup, agreeed with Joe. use the REPLACE option.

is there any benefit to remove showpost links?
some people says remove it to Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100).

Personally, I do not like having showpost pages included in the index.

You see, the same content will appear within thread pages, and showpost pages add many times more pages that make the crawling/re-crawling process less efficient.
