Set it and forget it, or...?

Hi, I am new to Vbseo. I just installed the sitemap generator with the default settings.

However, I am not sure about what to do next. Is it the tool that I set once and forget about it, or I should tweak settings to get better results and check the statistics regularly?

Yes you can use theses settings

• Include Show Post Pages no
• Include Member Profile Pages no
• Include Archive Pages no
• Include Show Thread Pages yes
• Include Forum Display Pages yes
• Include Poll Results Pages no
• Include Blog Pages no -----> if you have vBulletin Blog make it yes
• Include Member Profile Album Pages yes
• Include Social Groups Pages no
• Include Social Groups Picture Pages no
• Include Tag Pages no

Wow awesome find! I also just installed the vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap addon tonight and I was wondering the SAME EXACT thing as you Ramya!

I just ran it for the first time and it generated a sitemap with over 50,000 URL's

I noticed that most of them are 'Show Post Pages'. Is that really necessary?? Seems like duplicate data to me!

We recommend that showpost be disabled.

IIRC it will be disabled by default or removed all together from newer versions.

There is nothing wrong including albums , member pages within sitemap files . The only recommended setting to disable is Include Showpost pages. This feature will be disabled within vBSEO Sitemap Generator 2.6

If member profiles are hidden for guest (so Google can't see them) is there ANY logical advantage of including them in the sitemap?

We currently have 727.758 URLs in sitemap, and 243.670 indexed. The difference is approx (well, 30k off) the # of member profiles, although this could be just a coincidence ofcourse.

If your profiles are not open to guests then you shouldn't include them to sitemap files.
