se bot activity log stats

Are there any quidelines that say you're getting good numbers from se bots?

The more the merrier. you'll usually see more at night (after the sitemap task runs)

In my webmaster forum around %50 of my total traffic comes from bots.

The first partial day I turned on the logging for se bots it showed over 24,000 - the next few days are only 3-4,000 - why did it drop off like that?

bot traffic will always fluctuate. It's hard to say with only a few days of logging if the high or low numbers are your norm. You will need more data to make any conclusions.

What's weird is that yesterday early in the day it was showing over 15k but when the day was over isn't only showing 3k now

Do you have multiple web servers?

Only one for this site that vbseo is running on. I have a separate one for the other sites.

find:
if (file_exists($hfilename) && (filesize($hfilename) > 0))
replace with:
if (file_exists($hfilename))

it skips checking the size of the file, thus writing to what's there based on the file existing only

ok, well it's working better. Today is a full day and so far over 84k

124k for today, how is that number?
