    Question On Sitemap URL

Quick question, I just started another site, however, am using 3.8.5 with vBadvance CMPS.

With that said, my forums are installed into a forums directory on the root. I understand that I need to put the htaccess file in the forum root, however, is there a way that instead of my sitemap link point to the forums directory that I can make it appear that the sitemap is in the root.

So instead of www.tkunderground.com/forums/sitemap it is www.tkunderground.com/sitemap

I am sure it is probably just a different rewrite in the htaccess, but I am not sure.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

If you wish to do this then

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ forums/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
Will do the trick your sitemap will then be accessible at http://www.tkunderground.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz

    Thank you

    Ceri

That would go in the root directory.

Do I need to leave the other htaccess in the forum root? I still have the htaccess in the forum root from the install, however, when I look at the report screen it still shows the url to the sitemap as being in the forums directory.

Have you defined the new location in the vbseo sitemap settings section?

It is a two step process, update that field in the settings, and then have it in the .htaccess file. From there delete and regenerate and it should be good.

Ok so I place the following URL in there:

Trophy and Stadium Kart Forums: Trophy and Stadium Kart Discussion Forums

Do I need to use both htaccess files?

Assuming you are not using other rules, you do not need the htaccess in the forum directory. I would also be sure that you delete all files ending in .gz in your vbseo_sitemap/data folder, and regenerate.
