Priority recomendations

Can anyone shed any light on the best priority recommendations figures for show post, show thread etc etc

I just found that my tags were set higher than most other bits on my forum. Might answer why google has been having 6k hits a day on them and leaving most other bits alone

Personally, I do not like including showpost pages at all. So if you do, I would set them low priority.

I also would set tags low priority. Ultimately, it is your real content you want indexed, so your thread pages should have max priority.

I had 23k hits from the search engines yesterday. Checked the priorities and found some how (magic hand of god must have done divine intervention at some stage) tags were set to 0.8, show thread 0.3 and show thread 0.7

Needless to say thats now been altered.

Is it worth setting show thread to 1.0 or is that just a fantasy setting that every one uses and produces very few results

I think it's more or less "relative" settings. I'm not sure how dramatically applied the difference in priority actually impacts the crawling.

But if show thread is your top priority, then setting it to 1 should be ok.

any advice on which settings to input? i've left it at default...any tips?

i use
.9 for showthread
.6 for forumdisplay
.1 for pollresults
.2 for all the blogs and social stuff
.5 for tags

all the rest, i don't include in my sitemap at all
