Ok to Use the Built-in vb 4.0.x Sitemap Generator with vbSEO 3.5?

I'm itching to upgrade our busiest site from vb 3.8.x to vb 4.0.x. I see no reason not to use the current release candidate for vbSEO. But I don't want to lose the ability to generate sitemaps.

I don't mind that, if by using the native vb sitemap generator, that I currently don't have all of the features of the beta vbSEO 2.6 sitemap generator. But as long as it won't mess up my status with Google, I'll be happy to use the vb native sitemap generator until the new vbSEO generator is released.

Are the sitemaps generated by the current vb 4.0.x compatible with the current vbSEO release candidate?

    Please advise.

    Thanks. -- Rik

    Hi Rik,

I am afraid not, the native sitemap generator will just spit out all of the default vB URL's and not your rewriten ones, vBSEO will 301 all of these but It is believed that google will ignore URL's that are 301'd from a sitemap so it would be a waste. You would be better using the 2.6 beta even though some features are missing.

    Thank you for the information.

Accordingly, may I have approval in the downloads area for the beta version of the vbseo 2.6 sitemap generator?

    Thank you. -- Rik

    Hi,

You already have access, it is in the download section at the moment just after the 2.5 final.

    Ceri:

When I access the downloads area, there is a red "beta" bar for sitemap 2.6, but clicking on that does nothing. I see at the top of the screen green "download" bars (which isn't there for the sitemap generator) for the actual vbSEO packages. That's why I assumed I need some kind of permission to access the sitemaps generator beta? I tried two browsers (Firefox & IE) with the same results -- no green download bar for the sitemaps generator.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks. -- Rik

    Hi Rik,

Did you try just clicking the Green, hyperlinked text that says 2.6 Sitemap Generator?

    Hi Rik,

As Ace suggests with the additional downloads there is no button but instead just the green hyperlinked text. Click on that to download it.

    Ceri/Ace:

I didn't even think that there may be "links" on the left side (just assumed it was colored text) since there were "download" buttons on the right side for everything else.

With that, I was able to download the file.

    Thanks a lot. -- Rik
