    is this normal?

i purchased vbseo in about jan of this year. ive found that yahoo loves the site, it cant get enough of it lol. but google has been a bit less willing to come and trawl through the site.

i know these things take time (how hard is it waiting though! lol) and up until a couple of weeks ago my sitemap activity log shown google to be averaging about 10-20 pages a day

then out of the blue it all went ballistic! lol. for the past 2 weeks ive had google go for on average 30,000 a day. im happier than a pig in sh*t lol

well i would be but i dont see any difference on the whos online section of the forum. there is still only usually maybe 1 google bot on there (compared to the 15-20 yahoo bots)

is this normal? i am a bit confused as to how on the SE Bots Activity Log its such high number yet the bots dont seem to be doin there job.

any info anyone can give me is much appreciated

    cheers

I think some more info would be helpful for anyone to address your question.

Are you saying there's been a massive increase in spidering but you don';t see the spiders? Or are you saying that there's been no increase in human traffic?

"SE Bots Activity Log" in vbseo_sitemap/ logs all hits from the search engine bots and if you have big numbers there, that is a great sign The whole process takes some time though, before the pages will appear in SEs index.

As I understood from your post they are already extensively spidering your forums:
for the past 2 weeks ive had google go for on average 30,000 a day.

But he's saying that for some reason vBulletin's Who's On-line display isn't showing that much spider activity, and is wondering about the discrepancy.

yes keith is right, the number in the sitemap log is showing that google is doing well yet the spiders dont seem to be arriving at my forum at all.

    many thanks for your time

You are viewing the WOL 24 hours a day?

It may be that the G spider is coming at times when you are away, or asleep?

On my site, I see major hits in my sitemap logs, but only one Google spider on the forums.

I see, perhaps who's online page is showing one (or a few) google bot if for multiple hits when they're originated from the same IP.

ah, ok. i jus thought id see more bots trawling through the forums like i do with yahoo slurp spider. the indexed pages in google arent showing up as of yet so its just a case of waiting i suppose.

when the spiders go through the sitemap seo log then the high number in there is that telling the google spiders to trawl through the site then and there or does it sometimes take a bit for it to actually go and spider them url's that it has gotten out of the sitemap?

Which report are you viewing? The Download Log, or the SE Activity Log?

The Download Log just shows that your sitemaps have been downloaded.

The SE Activity Log shows the actual number of pages (and actual pages if you click Details) that the spiders have viewed/indexed .

its the se activity log mate, does this mean then the pages have been indexed by google and its just a matter of time till they get searchable? as i understood that google got the url's off the sitemap to spider and then at a later date went and spiderd them?

as i was getting confused ya see as the yahoo slurp spider has about 20+ constantly roaming my site yet google has 1 or 2 if that and so i was thinking google wasnt finding its way around even though the sitemap had shown it the way

if that means they have already been spiderd then now then great stuff, bring it on google! lol
