you can try to remove all files from hits/ folder. That will clean the log but new entries should work correctly.

(If you want to keep them)
if you just moved servers, you may need to chown those files written by the old server to the new server.

i did not moved the servers. just upgrade the vb and the vb sitemap. it has no problem when i did not upgrade it.
